3 for the road: Ridin' the back roads
Photo ops and funky stops—only in THE DELTA
by Kallie Dreher
Hot and cold

Built in the 1920s, these tanks once served the town of Ruleville and the Cotton Compress, but over time they became rusty eye sores. In an attempt to bring visitors back to the area, the idea of painting "Hot" and "Cold" was born.
Go find it: Head east on Highway 8 into Ruleville. Take a right at the four way stop, a right at Bill's Body Shop, a right at Ruleville Corner store and then look up!
Signed, Sealed, Delivered

This old shack has recently closed for business, but it long served all the postal needs for the little town of Farrell. Aw, how cute!
Go find it: Headed north on Highway 1, go a mile past Sherard and take a left on Pecan Street when you come into Farrell. Look for it on the right!
ST. Luke's Church

It is rare to find a church with this much character—even in the Delta! Photographers around the world will jump for joy after stumbling upon this diamond in the rough.
Go find it: Headed south from Arcola on Old Highway 61, go about 3 miles and take a left on Avon-Darlove Road. |
